idea brings together students from all colleges at the University of Michigan, with the arts and engineering colleges of North Campus at its core, to facilitate all varieties of interdisciplinary work/play that will enhance students’ creativity and better prepare them to compete in a fast-paced global economy.
idea founders are listed below. So far, we’ve created Explorth [pdf] and this cool video about U-M’s North Campus.
Our plan is for idea to have four main programs:
idea Talks – quality time with distinguished visitors who work in many different disciplines — often all at once.
Collaborative Projects – annual projects that blend engineering and the arts and are designed, evaluated, built, and installed by idea students.
Engagement – annual trip for idea members to a relevant conference — in the arts, engineering, creativity, transdisciplinarity, etc.
Community Outreach – workshops at surrounding middle schools and high schools to encourage hands-on problem-solving through the arts and elementary engineering.
Get involved! We need your ideas and energy. Contact us at idealeader@umich.edu
